Beach Restoration

Residents and travelers visiting the Isle of Palms and Wild Dunes Resort in recent months witnessed firsthand the severe impact of beach erosion along the northern end of the island. Thanks to a restoration project, the erosion, which once threatened homes and villas and the Wild Dunes' Links Course, is resolved and the beach and all the Resort's oceanfront accommodations are open for everyone to enjoy!
Led by the City of Isle of Palms, the beach nourishment project restored more than two miles of coastline, bringing back the lush, white sandy beaches that line this barrier island. Roughly 900,000 cubic feet of sand was used to revitalize the beachfront, which now reaches nearly 150 yards in width along the entire strand.
The beach restoration project is an exciting step to preserve the long-term future of the beach and restore valuable ecosystems. Experts predict the dunes and natural vegetation of Isle of Palms to be fully restored within about two years. The early completion of the project will also allow for a safe nesting season for endangered sea turtles.
We appreciate our guests' patience throughout the erosion cycle and restoration effort and look forward to creating wonderful vacation memories for years to come.
